No Exposed Fasteners
A standing seam
panel built for
Maritime weather.
Most metal roofing relies on exposed fasteners to hold panels in place. Those fasteners are the first thing to fail. Salt air, freeze-thaw cycles, and wind events degrade the rubber washers and back the screws out over time.
KLAD Mech-Lock panels work differently. Each panel attaches to the roof deck using concealed clips, then panels are mechanically seamed together at every joint. No screws through the panel face. No washers exposed to weather. No penetrations for water to find.
The result is a watertight, self-sealing standing seam metal roof that allows natural expansion and contraction without weakening the system.

Seaming Options
Single lock or double lock — which is right for your project?
Both single lock and double lock standing seam systems are mechanically seamed, creating a strong, weathertight connection between panels. For most residential applications, single lock provides excellent performance and durability.
For coastal properties, waterfront homes, and high wind areas, double lock is the better choice. The additional fold creates a more complete interlock between panels, enhancing resistance to wind uplift.
There is also an aesthetic consideration. Single lock produces a sleek half-inch profile that many homeowners prefer the look of.
Option 01
One fold, 90 degrees. Maximum watertight resistance. Half-inch profile. Ideal for most residential applications.
Option 02
Two folds, 180 degrees. Maximum strength. Ideal for coastal properties, waterfront homes, and high wind areas.
24 vs 26 Gauge
Which gauge
is right for
your roof?
KLAD Mech-Lock panels are available in both 26 gauge and 24 gauge Galvalume steel. Both are excellent options for standing seam metal roofing in Nova Scotia.
For most residential applications, 26 gauge performs exceptionally well. For coastal properties and high wind areas, 24 gauge is the stronger choice. The additional thickness provides greater resistance to wind uplift and salt air exposure over the long term.
The price difference between 26 and 24 gauge is approximately 25%.
